LOVER OF ALL

XII

Blessing Shukracharya

Lord Shiv is the ever blissful devotee of lord Krishna and rejoices in performing the role prescribed to him by his lord without protest and  a sign of slackness. He rejoices in blessing all without giving thought to consequences and vanquishing evil to soothe his devotees. His compassion is such as the nethermost creatures ranging from venomous serpents to prets, ghosts, devils to simple devotees to most enlightened yogis all find an abode in his empire at mount Kailash. He thus disappoints none.

The fierce battle between Andhak and lord Shiv was going on. All lords including Lord Vishnu joined lord Shiv to rout the army of troublesome and arrogant daitya and danava. Shukrachary the spiritual master of daitya and danava possessed magical powers of reviving his patrons and which baffled the devtas the most. Lord Shiv therefore, took an extreme step and swallowed the master of enemy in an eye blink. The massive army of tamasik enemies found their spiritual master missing from amongst them as lord Shiv pushed him down his loins. They lost all vigour and enthusiasm to rout devtas who represent benevolent or satvik tendencies of human mind.

Shukracharya who was deft in reviving daitya and danav which, as a metaphor represent animal tendencies inherent in human mind, felt himself lost in the whirlpool inside lord Shiv. He kept on exploring amazing galaxies floating inside lord Shiv and found no end to it. For a hundred years he kept on rotating and revolving inside Lord Shiv who had swallowed him so comfortably that Shukrachrya could do nothing to save himself. His might and power to resurrect daitya and danav, was reduced to nothing by the destroyer of evils. Encased in the loins of lord Shiv, he looked for an opportunity to come out of his body. Finding no way out he began to chant mantra to please lord Shiv. Invested with the spiritual energy created my chanting of mantra he ultimately found a passage and rushed out of his body through his phallus. After finding a release he worshipped lord Shiv in various ways. Parvati accepted him as their son and pardoned him for his follies committed in the past.

The gracious GOD

Once I dreamt lord Shiv lying on earth with a gigantic pink coloured transparent body in whose heart mother Parvati was seated as a tiny doll meditating in lotus posture. Then the very next moment I saw him speading in sky like the blue azure in whose heart mother Parvati was still meditating as a tiny doll. I pondered over the message but failed to decipher the dream. Just a week after this while idling away time  I decided to translate poetry of swamy Vivekananda into Hindi language. As I translated his poem, I was taken aback as the poem depicted lord shiv as transparent sky in whom sport of Shakti was a mere semblance. The poem reads as follows:

.   Salutation to Shiva! whose glory
Is immeasurable, who resembles sky
In clearness, to whom are attributed
The phenomena of all creation,
The preservation and dissolution
Of the universe! May the devotion,
The burning devotion of this my life
Attach itself to Him, to Shiva, who,
While being Lord of all, transcends Himself.

In whom Lordship is ever established,
Who causes annihilation of delusion,
Whose most surpassing love, made manifest,
Has crowned Him with a name above all names,
The name of "Mahadeva", the Great God!
Whose warm embrace, of Love personified,
Displays, within man's heart, that all power
Is but a semblance and a passing show.

In which the tempest of the whole past blows,
Past Samskaras, stirring the energies
With violence, like water lashed to waves;
In which the dual consciousness of "I" and "Thou"
Plays on: I salute that mind unstable,
Centred in Shiva, the abode of calm!

Where the ideas of parent and produced,
Purified thoughts and endless varied forms,
Merge in the Real one; where the existence ends
Of such conceptions as "within", "without"--
The wind of modification being stilled--
That Hara I worship, the suppression
Of movements of the mind. Shiva I hail!

From whom all gloom and darkness have dispersed;
That radiant Light, white, beautiful
As bloom of lotus white is beautiful;
Whose laughter loud sheds knowledge luminous;
Who, by undivided meditation,
Is realised in the self-controlled heart:
May that Lordly Swan of the limpid lake
Of my mind, guard me, prostrate before Him!

Him, the Master-remover of evil,
Who wipes the dark stain of this Iron Age;
Whom Daksha's Daughter gave Her coveted hand;
Who, like the charming water-lily white,
Is beautiful; who is ready ever
To part with life for others' good, whose gaze
Is on the humble fixed; whose neck is blue
With the poison swallowed:
Him, we salute!
