Me and marriage? Never please!

Me and marriage? Never please!

In Golok, Lord Shrikrishn in association with her consort Radha, created all Gods and offered them their wives. He gave everyone a mantra, kavach, vehicle and wife. Shrikrishn created Goddess Durga from his forehead and gave her a lion as her vehicle. He made her as powerful as he himself is. Srikrishna loves his devout devotee Shiv the most. So with immense love he said to him, -“Lord Shiv! Please accept this Goddess riding a lion as your wife.” When Shiv saw her, he shirked for a while being not the least willing and prepared ever to get married. He clasped his hands in veneration as he could not dare defy his Lord. However, in his heart he wished to remain only a devotee of Shrikrishn. Married life seemed to him the most burdensome. He simply said,-‘My Lord! Like an ordinary man, I do not find it possible to accept her as a wife. The wife creates distance between man and God, obstructs service of God, shrouds the mind off divine wisdom, bars the path of practising yoga, destroys the desire to attain liberation and drags man to carnal desires.  Wife destroys the penance earned by the husband, is the strongest shackle to bind man to the prison of this world, is a pool of attachment, begets evil thoughts in mind, destroys pure intelligence, and incessantly multiplies carnal desires. Lord! I do not wish for a wife. Please bestow upon me the boon that I cherish in my heart. Because Almighty and All-knowing God gives everyone  what one longs for. I dream only to remain your unflinching devotee day and night. I feel never content while meditating over your lotus feet and chanting your sweet names. Whether asleep or awake, I sing only your glory from all my five mouths and feel delighted.  For eons I wish to remain your blissful devotee alone. I never wish for a wife. I rejoice only in yoga and tapasya. My heart feels treasure of bliss in worshipping you in various ways. Please bestow upon me nine types of devotion such as chanting your name, keertan, hearing your tales, focusing on your forms, serving your lotus feet, praising you, surrendering before you and eating your naivedya(prasada). Omniscient Lord! Liberation is of six types,-saarshti (ability to create world like God);salokya ( securing abode in your loka); samipya ( to live with God); sarupya ( attaining form of God) and samya ( to be equal to God in equanimity) and leen ( merging into God).

There are various types of siddhis, such as - anima ( ability to be as small as a molecule),laghima ( ability to be small) ,prapti (ability to produce anything at will), prakamya ( to be free from desires), mahima (ability to attain greatness),Ishitva ( ability to be the Lord), Vashitva (ability to create spell),sarvakamavsayita (ability to destroy desire),saarvagyata (ability to know everything), doorshravan ( ability to hear from distance), parkaya pravesh (ability to enter other’s body), vaksiddhi (ability to speak that turns true),kalpvrikshatva (to be like kalpavriksh), ability to create and destroy anything, to be immortal and to be best in everything etc.

Attaining these all powers and pilgrimage to all holy abodes and best of worldly status put together all, is not even one sixteenth of the status of a pure hearted devotee of Lord Shrikrishn.”

Shrikrishn began to laugh to hear the officious words of his guileless devotee Shiv. He said,-“O the best of wisest of all Gods! Serve me for hundred crore kalpas. You are the best amongst siddhas, yogis, vaishnavas and devtas. All siddhis and wisdom are under your command. Now onwards you will be equal to me in all respects. You are my favourite devotee. I indeed love you more then my own life. You will attain your wife Shiva after hundred crore kalpas. I am not prepared to accept your request, anyhow.  No doubt that you will enjoy with your wife for billions of years perfect conjugal bliss.  You are not only a Tapasvi but also a Lord equal to me.  The Self-willed God also becomes householder at the appropriate time.  Shiv! The suffering you have described, a husband gets from his wife, is owing to her association with indecent ladies.  Decent ladies take care of their husband just like their sons.  A chaste wife who beholds her husband greater than both of us, definitely attains Goloka after mortal death, accompanied by her husband.  As willed by me, accept her as your wife.  Both of you will be worshipped as “Ling and Yoni.” Explaining thus the divine plan for each being of the Universe,  Lord Shrikrishn gave Shiv mantra and kavach also. Humbled and suave Lord Shiv adopted silence and accepted the command of his Lord with gratification.
