what goddess can attract shiv?

What goddess can attract lord Shiv?

Lord Brahma created world. World sustains on principle of duality. So with the passage of time daitya and devta began to fight. Lord Brahma needed a matchless warrior who could control daitya. He knew that Lord Shiv was born continent and possessed immeasurable power. He therefore, needed a celestial warrior, born of Lord Shiv to protect devta from ferocious and arrogant danava and daitya. But the question baffling him was as to what lady was capable of attracting a nonchalant yogi such as Lord Shiv. Lord Brahma called his invincible stalwart Lord Kamdev and asked him to arouse the desire to marry in Lord Shiv. “Lord Brahma! First create an attractive Goddess who can entice Lord Shiv so that through her could I target him”. Brahma took time to ponder over the right choice and asked Kamdev and Basant to meanwhile try their weapons on Lord Shiv. The two deities tried their level best to tempt the nonchalant and stoic mind Lord Shiv who spent all his time in chanting names of Lord Hari and meditation alone, thinking of nothing else. Seeing their failure, Lord Brahma fell in a quandary. He prayed to Lord Hari to guide him properly. Lord Hari appeared and asked,-“O, creator of world! Tell me what perplexes you so much?”

Brahma replied,-“Lord Keshav! My anxiety can be done away with only when I find a right consort to wed Lord Shiv.”

Lord Vishnu said,-“Lord Shiv is the greatest of yogis with no wish to enter into wedlock. You better ask him only and meanwhile worship Goddess Shiva who alone, in my opinion can win his heart. Ask king Daksh to worship Goddess Durga to take birth as his daughter as she alone can be the wife of Lord Shiv.”

Thus inspired by Lord Vishnu, Lord Brahma exhorted king Daksh to worship Goddess Durga. As king worshipped Divine Mother, she appeared before Daksh and said,-“King! I am pleased with you, seek any boon.”

“Mother, Lord Shiv has taken birth but you have not yet taken birth on the Earth. Who else can be his wife? Please take birth as my daughter and be his consort.”

Pleased Goddess Durga smiled and said,-“King, Be it so. I shall soon be your daughter.”

Thus was born a daughter named Sati to king Daksh. The drama of creation is considered preconceived by spiritual persons. The Divine Mother born to Daksh as his daughter Sati, soon grew up to be a resplendent beauty and began to think of Lord Shiv day and night as to how to win nonchalant Yogi  Shiv as her husband. She took permission of her mother Veerini and began to worship Lord Shiv at her home only. All deities appreciated the penance of Sati and in the chore of their heart they all longed to see Lord Shiv as a groom, soon. Sati defeated all siddhas by meditating for long hours. Seeing her determination all devta bowed before her and rushed to Mount Kailash to inspire Lord Shiv to marry her. They praised in various ways meditating Lord Shiv. Lord Shiv opened his eyes and began to laugh heartily. All devta appreciated him along with their consorts to cheer him up.

“Please, let me know, all of you, as to what brings you all here? What am I expected to do, for you all?” asked the serene host, inhabiting holy Mount Kailash.

“Lord! We all three are interdependent to sustain the creation. Some danava are to be killed by me, some by Lord Vishnu and some by you. Some are to be killed by your son. Some will be killed by Goddess Durga. Lord, You are filled with compassion to others and are ever desire less. I and Lord Vishnu have our consorts beside us but you are still single.” Prompted Lord Brahma to begin with the prelude.

Lord Shiv began to smile and said,-“Lords! Both of you are close to my heart. Even though I have no heart to marry yet to serve the purpose of creation, as described by you, I shall enter into wedlock. But please ensure that the bride I wed should also be a yogini and willing to adapt to my mood and needs.” Explained Lord Shiv.

“Lord! Goddess Sati has been performing rigorous penance to win you as her husband. The time is now ripe that you bless her and accept her as your consort so that the suffering of the creation is done away with.”

“Surely, it will so happen. Worry not and feel assured,” said the prospective groom. Lord Shiv bid farewell to his anxious and curious guests who were leaping with joy and delight for they were going to be the part of the  celestial wedding of greatest of  yogi. The imagination of seeing the Self-sufficient, Continent and Ascetic Shiv as a groom and householder whose son shall kill their eyesore enemies created goose bumps in their bellies.

Lord Shiv lost no time and aware of the forthcoming role, appeared before the daughter of king Daksh named Sati and said,-“Daughter of king Daksh! I am pleased with you. Please seek any boon.”

Sati was enthralled to see Lord Shiv in front of her. Blushed by his presence, she could not utter anything. Lord Shiv could sense her delight that turned her dumb and was equally bemused to see her delighted and attracted to him. He reiterated,-“Seek a boon, please.”

Sati mustered up courage and shyly murmured,-“O the Bestower of best of the boons! Please bestow upon me a boon that should be everlasting.” She could not further explain her wish and became silent.  Lord Shiv found the right moment and himself proposed to her,-“Goddess! Be my consort!”

Stupefied by the extreme joy, Sati remained speechless. Moments of silent communication lingered long. As the shroud of silent union between to eternal counterparts melted down She, insinuated-“Lord Mahadev! Please obtain permission from my father and wed me properly.”

Lord Shiv responded back promptly with responsibility,-“It will so happen.”

Blessing Sati so, Lord Shiv appeared at his abode at holy Mount Kailash. The yogi began to feel restless within, mentally recalling the meeting, the talks and the attraction of eyes of his fiancée. He forgot to meditate and dreamt of Sati alone day and night. But the next hurdle in the path of inviting  conjugal bliss was as to how to persuade king Daksh and  whom to choose as the messenger to accomplish the goal ? Lord Shiv mentally commanded Lord Brahma. Soon the Eager Creator appeared before his caller. Shiv said to him,-“Lord Brahma! Please take up the task now. You are to take my message to king Daksh that I wish to wed his daughter Sati.”

Lord Brahma was delighted and gladly accepted to shoulder the responsibility.

In the palace of king Daksh, a word had gone round that Lord Shiv had blessed princess Sati to be his wife and this news made everyone happy. King Daksh was also happy to know this but pondered over hard as to how to invite Lord Shiv to further the proposal and make further preparations.

As he reeled in this anxiety, Lord Brahma appeared before him. The king was overwhelmed and welcomed him wholeheartedly.

“King! Lord Shiv has sent me with the message that preparations should be made for wedding of your daughter with him. As she worships him, so does he adore her. As soon as preparations are over, please let me know and I shall bring the groom to you with sage Narad.” Lord Brahma explained.

King Daksh felt deeply relieved to get the message of Lord Shiv. When Lord Brahma narrated happiness of king Daksh about the alliance, Lord Shiv also laughed whole heartedly.

He lost no time and proceeded to the palace of king Daksh mounting his servitor Nandi. With Vedic style, the marriage ceremony was performed and the couple soon reached back to mount Kailash mounting their servitor Nandi.

They lived happily and indulged in spiritual discussion mostly. Lord Shiv often emphasised worship of Lord Vishnu to attain fulfilment of all wishes as well as liberation. Mother Sati also found their discussions full of bliss and enlightenment. Thus they lived happily and enlightened others in various ways.
