Such fathomless is the devotion of Lord
Shiv that he created five heads to whet the appetite of his esurient eyes with
the charm of Lord Shrikrishn. Once it so happened that the eternal saintly son
of Lord Brahma, named Sanatkumar went to
Vaikunthalok and found Lord Vishnu relishing the lunch cooked by Mother Goddess
Lakshmi. Sanatkumar praised Lord in various ways and pleased Lord Vishnu gave
him his left over food. Feeling immensely blessed, Sanatkumar ate some of the
food and kept rest for distributing amongst his loved ones. He considered Lord
Shiv as his guru. Ever hungry to receive
prasad of Lord Hari, devotee Shiv gulped
down the entire of it himself, forgetting that being a husband it was his duty
to share everything with his consort. The delight of having eaten Vishnu’s prasad drove him to such an ecstasy that
he rose to dance in joy.

Shiv was dumb. He had no explanation for his temptation to
the divine Prasad. Silence is
considered gold in the moments of commotion and heat. Parvati unleashed her
wrath further-“Reap the reward of your act now. People who eat your Prasad will
be born as dog on the Earth.” Saying so, she began to cry. Seeing her fiery
eyes, Shiv’s throat turned dark. He embraced her respectfully, wiped her tears
and persuaded her in many ways. Thus calmed by him, Parvati rose up and
said,-“I will give up this body as it has been deprived of Shri Hari’s prasad.” Shiv said,-“O Goddess Supreme!
Mother of Universe! Calm down, please. You have bought me with your immense
penance. Bless me, please. You are the Supreme Power that rules from Goloka to the
Earth. You are my Eternal Consort. You are the grace of Lord Srikrishn,
bestowed upon me. Believe me, it was the wish of Lord Hari only because of which
I could not share his prasad with
you. Believe me and give up the idea of renouncing your body.’ Having expressed
his repentance and justified his folly, Shiv stood silently in front of her.
Parvati got appeased. She took bath in
river Ganga and worshipped Lord Hari with husband Shiv. The couple offered prasad to Lord Hari and ate together.
