prasad drives to delirium

Prasadam drives into deilirium

Such fathomless is the devotion of Lord Shiv that he created five heads to whet the appetite of his esurient eyes with the charm of Lord Shrikrishn. Once it so happened that the eternal saintly son of Lord Brahma, named  Sanatkumar went to Vaikunthalok and found Lord Vishnu relishing the lunch cooked by Mother Goddess Lakshmi. Sanatkumar praised Lord in various ways and pleased Lord Vishnu gave him his left over food. Feeling immensely blessed, Sanatkumar ate some of the food and kept rest for distributing amongst his loved ones. He considered Lord Shiv as his guru.  Ever hungry to receive prasad of Lord Hari, devotee Shiv gulped down the entire of it himself, forgetting that being a husband it was his duty to share everything with his consort. The delight of having eaten Vishnu’s prasad drove him to such an ecstasy that he rose to dance in joy.

His dumbbell, trident and even tiger skin fell off but he was unmindful of this all. Unaware of his naked body, he danced and danced with eyes streaming tears of joy. His five heads sang the songs in glory of his Lord Hari. He then began to scream in delirium and soon fell into a swoon. All he saw all around, in all dimensions and directions was the resplendent, scintillating countenance of smiling Lord Shrikrishn. Mother Parvati also, meanwhile, reached there. Seeing her husband’s divine delirium she sensed that he must be lost in the thoughts of his Lord Hari alone. A beatific smile spread over her lotus like glowing countenance. In a lighter vein she turned to the guest and asked Sanatkumar as to what brought him to such a state? The innocent carrier of prasad divulged the truth. As soon as she learnt that Shiv had eaten entire prasad without sharing with her, her tender face turned stern. Her rosy lips began to flutter in fury. Lord Shiv sensed that he was about to receive her curse for his unintended folly. He quickly got up and clasped both hands before spouse Parvati. Words in her praise in various ways began to stream from his throat before she could be aroused to  uttering a word in curse. Afraid of her wrath, Shiv began to tremble in fear. Such is the power of penance of Mother Parvati that even Lord Shiv feared her the most. Parvati abstained herself from cursing him somehow, yet she could not stop from condemning him,-“You are the protector of world, especially me. You are endowed with wisdom enshrined in Vedas and are known to be omniscient. You liberate devotees and bestow best of the boons.  When you behave so arbitrarily, then how would you ensure righteousness?  I am your eternal consort and your slave out of love. Yet I have been deprived of Prasad of Lord Vishnu. You yourself describe the loftiness of prasad of Lord Hari. I attained you as my husband after such long penance, yet, why have you deprived me of the prasad?”

Shiv was dumb. He had no explanation for his temptation to the divine Prasad. Silence is considered gold in the moments of commotion and heat. Parvati unleashed her wrath further-“Reap the reward of your act now. People who eat your Prasad will be born as dog on the Earth.” Saying so, she began to cry. Seeing her fiery eyes, Shiv’s throat turned dark. He embraced her respectfully, wiped her tears and persuaded her in many ways. Thus calmed by him, Parvati rose up and said,-“I will give up this body as it has been deprived of Shri Hari’s prasad.” Shiv said,-“O Goddess Supreme! Mother of Universe! Calm down, please. You have bought me with your immense penance. Bless me, please. You are the Supreme Power that rules from Goloka to the Earth. You are my Eternal Consort. You are the grace of Lord Srikrishn, bestowed upon me. Believe me, it was the wish of Lord Hari only because of which I could not share his prasad with you. Believe me and give up the idea of renouncing your body.’ Having expressed his repentance and justified his folly, Shiv stood silently in front of her. Parvati got  appeased. She took bath in river Ganga and worshipped Lord Hari with husband Shiv. The couple offered prasad to Lord Hari and ate together.
